VisionFund Uganda has been supporting clients since 1997. Since then, we have grown to serve 42,700 active borrowers and impact 168,800 children and 60,400 jobs.
World Vision originally began its microfinance and
savings programme in 1993, but quickly realised the global need for
microfinance and the immense role it played in reducing poverty. VisionFund International
was then founded in 2003 to manage its network of affiliated microfinance
organisations (MFIs).
Since then, VisionFund International has been lending
money to people in need of financial services, helping them to start or grow
sustainable businesses. Our clients use the income earned to build a better
future for their children, for example, through having clean water, nutritious
food, education and healthcare.

“Before Embedded Education, Agnes took money issues for granted and made many unfriendly financial decisions that affected her income flows”
(Story and photos taken by Isaac Nkolo, EE Champion in Buwama)

Agnes Namirembe 35yrs is a resident of Kumbya village and a long-time client of VisionFund Uganda. She is a member of Zibula Atudde Kumbya Group which is one of our best performing groups in Buwama.
“I greatly thank God for the embedded education brought to us by VisionFund Uganda for we have been enlightened on many ways of using our loans well. Whenever I see my Loan Officer coming home I just say one word Embedded Education has come” Said Agnes very happily.
Agnes explained to us that she benefited mostly from two lessons; Use your loan for the intended purpose and Borrow only what you can afford to repay. Other group members also managed to attend all the four sessions and also have stories to tell.
“Iam so grateful that now am an education champion in my village for I can advise all my friends by trying to emphasize the contents from the embedded education and I don’t regret joining VisionFund Uganda since am now a changed and better person” Said Agnes.
“After accessing the training in Embedded Education, I have managed to invest my loan money for the intended purpose and my business has managed to grow to where it is now. From the little savings made, I have also started another business dealing in agricultural inputs and also kept my children in school because I no longer have school fees challenges. I also pay my loan on time and I stopped taking things for granted regarding my loan and i now have a good record with VisionFund Uganda” Said Agnes.
